Wobei ich jedoch nicht nur den Beta nvidia-driver-302.07 in mein System hinein gefrickelt habe, sondern auch den libvdpau patch

Das war mit dem FreeBSD Port System ganz einfach,
unter:

/usr/ports/multimedia/libvdpau/
ein
mkdir files, den patch dorthin als
patch-src__vdpau_wrapper.c kopiert und ein bisschen angepasst:
