So, es ist also eine HDA-Soundkarte und der Treiber greift sie auch. Daher ist nun die nächste Frage, wieso sie nicht funktioniert. Kannst du noch einmal die /var/run/dmesg.boot hier herein kopieren, damit ich eventuelle Fehler beim Boot sehen kann?

Nein, das musst du nicht, denn Treiber ist definitiv vorhanden und er greift die Soundkarte auch:

Es werden aber keine pcm-Geräte (zur Soundausgabe) angelegt. Ich habe den groben Verdacht, dass es daran liegen könnte, dass dein BIOS keine Pin-Belegung (die Zuordnung interner Kanäle des Chips zu Buchsen am Mainboard) definiert. Aber das sicherzustellen, ist nicht ganz einfach. Dazu bräuchte man mindestens:

1. Die Pinbelegung. Dazu einmal (als root) ein

sysctl dev.hdac.0.pindump=1
eingeben, am Ende der "dmesg" taucht danach die Pinbelegung auf.

2. Eine "Verbose-Dmesg". Dazu muss man im Boot-Menü (das, was gleich nach dem BIOS) kommt "Verbose Boot" anwählen und hat hinterher wesentlich mehr Ausgabe in /var/run/dmesg.boot.

Möglicherweise ist das noch wichtig:

Wenn ich auf der Konsole mixer eingebe, findet er das Device nicht und es werden auch keine Einstellungen angezeigt. Stattdessen kommt die Meldung:

Also, der Mixer ist kein Problem. Du hast keinen Mixer, da du keine Soundkarte hast. Daher müssen wir uns darum nicht näher kümmern. Und keine Soundkarte hast du, da der Hersteller deines Mainboards geschlampt hat. Grundsätzlich sind die HDA-Karten frei programmierbar, man kann festlegen, welche Buchse am Mainboard welche Funktion hat. Durch diese Programmierung ergeben sich pro HDA-Chip aus Sicht des Betriebssystems 4 Karten:
1. Hinten Analog
2. Hinten Digital
3. Vorn Analog
4. Vorn Digital
Dein Mainboard-Hersteller hat einfach gar keine Konfiguration angegeben, weshalb FreeBSD zwar insgesamt 11 Buchsen erkennt (nicht alle vom Chip unterstützten Buchsen müssen auch verlötet sein), sie aber alle "Disabled" sind. Dadurch kann er keine Soundkarte basteln und du hast keinen Sound. Unter Windows fangen die Herstellen sowas im Treiber ab, Linux hat lange Tabellen mit problematischen Boards. FreeBSD 9.1 wird eine Logik haben, die korrekte Belegung zu raten... Aber das bringt dir im Moment nichts. Aber zum Glück kann man auch eine manuelle Programmierung angeben.

du hast nun zwei Möglichkeiten: Entweder du wartest auf 9.1 (die erste Beta müssten in ein oder zwei Wochen kommen) und hoffst, dass es dort geht. Versprechen kann ich es nicht. Oder du versuchst es mit einer manuellen Programmierung. Leider kann ich dir dabei nicht helfen, da der Chip bei dir nicht mal vermuten lässt, welcher Ausgang ("nid") welcher Buchse am Board entspricht. Danke Yamagi für Deine Mühe, jetzt weiss ich wenigstens, woran ich bin. Da dies mein Arbeitsrechner ist, kann ich auf Sound notfalls verzichten. Jetzt denke ich, das ich auf die nächste Version von FreeBSD warte und übe mich in Geduld. Die dritte Möglichkeit wäre noch, mir eine günstige Soundblaster einzubauen, oder blieben die Probleme dann trotzdem bestehen?

Oder beim beim Einschalten des Computers die BIOS Version lesen, oder die BIOS Einstellungen aufrufen und dort die BIOS Version auslesen.

Beachte bei einer dedizierten Soundkarte aber bitte, dass sie unterstützt wird! Die Soundblaster Audigy mit emu10kx-Chip sind z.B. gut unterstützt, die neueren Soundblaster X-Fi haben hingegen keinen Treiber. Fummellösungen mal außen vor gelassen.

Danke Fusselbär, ich war schon im BIOS, aber die Infos durch dmidecode sind ja noch detaillierter. Jetzt denke ich, das ich mich erst ein wenig in Geduld fasse, bis das Problem möglicherweise in einer neuen FreeBSD gelöst ist, oder wenn nicht, dann eine neue Soundkarte erwerbe. Ich habe ein bios-update noch nie gemacht, aber meine das soll ja nicht gänzlich ungefährlich sein, aber nicht auf alles, was im Netz verbreitet wird, gebe ich etwas.

Ja, da werde ich dann drauf achten, wenn es an der Zeit ist. Habe ja im August Geburtstag. Dann ist eine Soundblaster Audigy mit emu10kx-Chip ja eine gute Wahl. Ich hatte die auch schon mal unter Windows früher, aber das ist bestimmt Lichtjahre her.
