Bildausgabe über HDMI zu groß

Es geht um einen Rechner, der neben dem Fernseher steht und keinen anderen Zweck hat, als KODI zu gucken. Bisher hatte ich die Graka (Geforce 450 GTS) über ein VGA-Kabel an den Fernseher angeschlossen, Audio ging über ein Audiokabel vom Onboard Sound Chip ebenfalls zum Fernseher. Das Bild am Ferseher war immer perfekt.
Nun habe ich mir gestern ein HDMI-Kabel gekauft, da die Graka über einen solchen Anschluss verfügt und ich die beiden anderen Kabel dadurch ersetzen wollte.
Klappt auch ganz gut, das Bild erscheint vom Farbbild her sogar besser zu sein, auch der Audioklang ist wesentlich besser (war der eigentliche Sinn der Übung).
Allerdings ist das Bild jetzt merklich etwas zu groß, es verliert einige Zentimeter an den vier Rändern.

Anmerkung: Der Eintrag
Code:
Option "DPI"   "96 x 96"
ist unbedingt nötig, da sonst alle Zeichen miniklein erscheinen.

Ich habe aber trotzdem zum Ausprobieren den Eintrag auskommentiert und X neu gestartet, die Zeichen erscheinen wie gesagt zu klein und das Bild ist trotzdem zu groß.

Das könnte ein Problem / eine Einstellung vieler Fernseher bei Verwendung von HDMI sein, nennt sich meist Overscanning und lässt sich irgendwo im Menü abschalten.

Mir konnte noch niemand schlüssig erklären was dieser unsinn soll.

es gab manchmal auch eine ZOOM-Funktion. Und für manche ist eben nur das Geschehen im Zentrum des Bildes von Bedeutung.

Ich denke auch, dass es eine Einstellung am TV tun wird, die Settings sind ja oft pro Anschluss gesondert ausgeführt und da gibt es dann auch jeweils Bild und Ton-Menüs. Darüber können auch die Farbeinstellungen sehr häufig angepasst werden, wobei es so sinnvolle Voreinstellungen wie "Spielfilm" oder "Natur" oder "Nachrichten" oder so in dem Sinne gibt. Oder "Klassik" und "Rock" beim Ton.

Ansonsten ist da arandr sehr sinnvoll, weil schön grafisch.

Edit: Ah, und natürlich auch 50Hz/60Hz nicht übersehen
 
Danke Euch, Eure Erklärungen haben weiter geholfen: Es gibt tatsächlich eine Einstellung im "Format" Menü, die das Bild sofort richtig anpasst: "Just scan". Hatte ich nie vorher gehört oder beachtet, also nicht "Auto", was voreingestellt war, sondern eben "Just scan".
Es scheint auch so zu sein, dass sich "Just scan" für HDMI hält, während Antenne und Satellit auf "Auto" bleiben.
Mal gucken, ob sich das nach einem Ausschalten des Rechners hält, aber selbst wenn nicht, wäre es auch nicht so schlimm.

Der Grund, warum ich auf HDMI gewechselt habe, ist, dass der analoge Sound vom Onboard Sound Chip immer schlechter wurde. Immer leiser und zudem noch verzerrt. Ist das überhaupt möglich? Kann ein Soundchip langsam den Geist aufgeben? Dass es ein Problem auf Eingansseite der Fernsehers gibt, glaube ich weniger...

das ist ein freies Zitat, frei, weil ich nicht mehr weiß, von wem das war. Irgendeine Musik-Band wahrscheinlich, die sind ja bekannt für ausgezeichnete und zitier fähige Texte.

Das Ding ist, dass jeder Sound-Chip auch "analoge Teile" um sich verbaut hat. Es wird der Sound ja (meist auch heute) nicht digital zum Endgerät gebracht, sondern schon auf der Karte in Analog umgewandelt und da gibt es eben alle Alterungserscheinungen und dazu gehören Kontakt-Probleme und Änderungen von Kondensatoren, vor allem von sogenannten ElKos und auch die Verstärkung, bzw die Kennlinie und Durchlassspannung von Dioden und Transistoren. Spulen und Widerstände sind hingegen recht Langzeit stabil.

Lass mich das nicht unsinnig weiter führen, aber es gelten vielleicht sehr grob diese Regeln:
-desto näher an der SoundQuelle ein Bauteil ist, desto mehr können auch kleine Abweichungen eine große Wirkung haben
-desto größer ein Bauteil ist, desto furchtbarer die Alterung, ergo: Endverstärker schrotten eher als Vorverstärker (weshalb dann eher hochwertige Bauteile verwendet werden die dann wieder lang genug halten...)

Der Sound-Chip selbst altert afaik nicht, er lebt so lange, bis er stirbt.

Gibt Sogar Geräte, ich glaube von Samsung, da kann mans garnicht ausschalten :(

Könnte auch theoretisch die Buchse recht banal sein, natürlich auf beiden Seiten ;)

Typischerweise werden derartige Degenerationen durch alternde Elkos verursacht.
Ist ein bekanntes Phänomen, bei alten Soundkarten sehr häufig.
