Hallo Liebes Forum,

ich war schon seit einiger Zeit nicht mehr hier im Forum unterwegs.
Ich habe mich mit Debian, Windows 11, Haiku, macOS beschäftigt und letzteres basiert ja
auch auf BSD. Also habe ich mal wieder auf meinem Laptop FreeBSD 14.0 installiert
und habe da eine Auflösung von 80x30. Das ist reudig und ich weiss das es früher mal
ein Kernelmodul gab mir dem man das Problem lösen konnte.
Allerdings weiss ich nicht mehr ob es das noch gibt.

Hat jemand eine Idee wie ich das Problem lösen kann, oder welchen Treiber ich
installieren muss?

Habe ich gerade erst gesehen das ich im falschen Forum gelandet bin.
Könnte das mal einer verschieben, das wäre nett.

Verschoben und Titel etwas angepasst, es geht ja um AMD-gpus. ;)

Wenn zwei gpus verbaut sind, richtet man die primäre zuerst ein, das muss nicht unbedingt auch die stärkere sein. Ich habe aktuell keinen Überblick, aber amdgpu ist für neuere (radeon-)Modelle und radeonkms für ältere. Siehe hier: https://wiki.freebsd.org/Graphics/AMD-GPU-Matrix

Da bin ich mal wieder, Hallo @mr44er,

die Auflösung an der Konsole konnte ich ändern, das funktioniert erstmal. Aber jetzt funktioniert X11 nicht mehr.

Laut der Fehlermeldung findet er das Modul "radeon" nicht, es scheint nicht zu existieren.
Hat es vielleicht einen anderen Namen?

Das ist schwere Kost was Du mir da angeboten hast.

Das ist falsch, entweder radeonkms oder amdgpu sollte das eigentlich lauten.
Wichtig ist auch, dass da keinerlei .conf von/für xorg vorhanden ist, damit die Automagie greift. Wenn das alles frisch ist, sollte dem auch nichts im Wege stehen.

In deiner /etc/rc.conf sollte kld_list="amdgpu" sein, damit alles ab da automatisch klappt. Allerdings habe ich keine praktische Erfahrung, wenn zwei GPUs vorhanden sind...vielleicht hängt das damit noch.

Magst du vielleicht mal noch dmesg mit amdgpu nach einem reboot posten?
 
Noch was, Du schreibst davon das 2 GPUs verbaut sind,
das stimmt nicht das ist hier ein Laptop. Ich habe eine Webcam
im Laptop, vielleicht behacken die sich irgendwie.

Nein. Musst Du nicht. Du kannst auch einfach im Single-User-Mode starten und dann Dein Eintrag aus der /etc/rc.conf entfernen.
Generell sollte man solche Sachen erst mal testen (kldload amdgpu), bevor man sie in die /etc/rc.conf einträgt.

Single-User-Mode geht klar, SuperUser geht auch klar, aber
das Filesystem ist ReadOnly und deshalb kann ich /etc/rc.conf
nicht ändern weil schreibgeschützt.
Das kann man bestimmt ändern ich weiss bloß nicht wie. Wo findet man Infos dazu.
Gegoogelt habe ich schon danach aber nichts gescheites gefunden.
Das Dateisystem ist ZFS

Das sind doch zwei oder ist eins davon falsch oder anders verdrahtet...evtl. eine andere Buchse?
Das ist tricky, weil ich nicht weiß, ob und wie die hintereinandergeschaltet sind. Auch weiß ich nicht, welche wirklich primär ist und ob beide für amdgpu passen. (Davon gehe ich aber aus.)

Rückgängig kann mans machen entweder via single-user-mode, wie bereits vorgeschlagen oder wenn eh nichts drauf ist, könnte ne Neuinstallation sogar schneller gehen.

Wenn du testest, kannst du mit kldstat gucken, was geladen ist. kldload amdgpu oder kldload radeonkms. Beide gleichzeitig würde ich nicht laden, das könnte mglw. crashen. Bevor du ein anderes lädtst, jeweils unloaden -> kldunload amdgpu. Auch das könnte crashen.

Wie gesagt tricky, weil ich nicht weiß, auf welche GPU 'amdgpu' dann anspringt, sofern überhaupt und wenn dein Laptopbildschirm schwarz wird, heißt das nicht automatisch, dass er auch aus ist, ggf. wechselt die Ausgabe dann nur auf eine andere Buchse oder GPU. Eventuell kann man im BIOS tauschen bzw. primary/secondary definieren.
 
Also radeonkms ist die richtige wahl.
Ich konnte das Modul im SingleUser Mode laden und es funzt auch.
Allerdings kann ich die Einstellung in der rc.conf immer noch nicht ändern
weil schreibgeschützt.
Ein paar Infos wären echt hilfreich.

Bei ZFS musst Du gucken, ob überhaupt alle Datasets da sind. ein zfs mount -a hilft.
zfs set readonly=off zroot/ROOT/default (ggf. anpassen, falls bei Dir die Pools etc. anders heißen; wenn Du standardmäßig installiert hast, sollte das aber so passen)
hebt dann das readonly auf.

ee kannst Du als Editor nehmen, falls Dir der vi nicht gefällt:
ee /etc/rc.conf

Alternativ dazu kannst Du sysrc benutzen:
sysrc kld_list-=amdgpu

Ich hatte schon das Vergnügen, dass radeonkms und amdgpu bei Karten "Bild brachten" und die Konsolenauflösung korrekt war, aber amdgpu dann trotzdem der richtige/bessere/neuere Treiber für den Chip war. Also beiß' dich nicht unbedingt am radeonkms fest, einfach ausprobieren. Ganz doof wäre es natürlich, wenn diese beiden Chips jeweils den anderen Treiber bräuchten...da habe ich aber leider keine Erfahrung mit. :(

Ok, in der Gruppe Video bin ich das habe ich überprüft.
Ich habe gerade eine xorg.conf.new erzeugt.
in der Datei steht als Treiber "amdgpu", muss ich das jetzt auf "radeonkms"
ändern?

Das verstehe ich nicht, oben in der 3. Zeile steht das der "server already running" ist.
Aber die Ausgabe von ps waux | grep xorg gibt kein Ergebnis.
Was läuft da falsch?
 
Ich muss ja zugeben das das frühere Layout 10.x des Handbuches
mir besser gefallen hat als das jetzt.
Aber na gut darüber kann man sich streiten.
 
Also, der Treiber "ati " hat nicht funktioniert, der "amdgpu" scheint geladen zu werden.(Log-File wird angehängt).
Allerdings stimmt da was mit der Versions-Nummer nicht.

Ich komm mir ehrlich gesagt ein bisschen veralbert vor. Ich hab nun schon 2 oder 3 Mal nach der xorg.conf gefragt. Ich hab den Hinweis mit dem Xorg -configure gegeben, den Du anscheinend auch nicht ausprobiert hast.
Meine Motivation ist gerade ein bisschen down.
 
Tut mir leid, das war nicht meine Absicht.
