dramatischer Preisverfall bei SSD

Mir ist aufgefallen, das SSD so günstig geworden sind, ich habe schon 480 GB für 69 € gesehen. Da werde ich wohl zuschlagen .....:)
 
Wen es interessiert, hier der Typ und ein Test:

Und es gibt sie überall, ich will hier keine Werbung machen.

Das freut mich.:) Und bei 69 € kann man nicht meckern. Das ist ein Sonderangebot und ich überlege gleich zwei zu bestellen, denn billiger werden die mit der Speicherkapazität ganz sicher nicht mehr.
 
Wobei du dich fragen solltest, ob du die Speicherkapazität wirklich brauchst. Für so was wie /var/tmp oder /mein/downloadordner/der/oft/dateien/anlegt/ändert/und/löscht :) setze ich persönlich auch weiterhin auf eine HDD. Natürlich halten heutige SSDs mehr aus als frühere. Aber man muss es ja nicht provozieren.
 
lass mich mal mitreden, ohne viel Ahnung zu haben.
Eine SSD der ersten Generation funktioniert bei mir nach fast zehn Jahren noch immer. Damals hatte ich viel Angst und deshalb im Dateisystem und allgemein dafür gesorgt, dass möglichst wenig mit der SSD gearbeitet wird. Dazu stehe ich auch heute noch. Eigentlich brauche ich die SSD nur zum Booten und dann kann sie sich zurück lehnen.
Bei ZFS ist das anders und bei manchen Programmen, wie etwa Firefox, ist es nur schwer (also schwer in meinen Begriffen), den Zugriff zur Platte zu verhindern. Es wird also heute immer die SSD belastet und ich habe deshalb auch tatsächlich ein rudimentär schlechtes Gefühl.
Allerdings vergleiche ich das mal mit einem Windows-Rechner mit SSD, den ich von meiner Firma habe und daraus leite ich mal ab: wenn die sich trauen, damit eine SSD zu benutzen, dann sollte das für uns gar kein Problem sein. Die SSD in diesem Windows PC ist dauernd aktiv.

Vor einigen Wochen baute ich meinen "neuen" PC von SAS-HD auf S-ATA-SSD um und bin damit sehr zufrieden.
Die benutzten SSD sind:
250GB Crucial MX500 2.5" (6.4cm) SATA 6Gb/s 3D-NAND TLC (CT250MX500SSD1)
und kosteten damals etwa zwei Euro mehr, als die doppelt so großen, die du nun anschaffen möchtest. Das hört sich eindeutig nach einem Preisverfall an und man kann daraus nur den Schluss ziehen: kaufen.

Allerdings, wozu?
Du hast (wenn ich frühere Beiträge richtig behalten habe) bereits eine SSD für das System und eine große HD für was auch immer.
Willst du nun die HD ersetzen?
Das bringt Energie-Ersparniss, Geräusch-Reduktion und weniger Wärme. Es bringt aber nicht unbedingt ein schnelleres System (ein wenig vielleicht schon).
Ich habe auch einige externe Platten hier, die ich überlege zu ersetzen und dann SSDs in die Gehäuse zu stecken.

Für mich ist die Möglichkeit ein ZFS auf mehrere SSDs zu verteilen und diese für das System zu nutzen, der Grundgedanke schlechthin gewesen. Mit OpenBSD fällt das bei dir weg.
Deshalb die Frage: was willst du überhaupt mit zusätzlichen SSDs machen?

Überleg dir das.
Für mich ist immer noch mehr RAM eher wünschenswert, als mehr SSD.
/var/tmp zB liegt bei mir im RAM und nicht auf einer HD oder SSD. Das muss aber ganz bewusst so eingesetzt und auch gemanagt werden. k3b schiebt isos oder eben temporäre Dateien gerne hierhin, was natürlich extrem fatal enden kann.
 
Hab es mir überlegt, früher habe ich nur Hardware ersetzt, wenn die alte defekt und dadurch nicht mehr funktionstüchtig war. Jetzt würde ich diese Prinzipien aufweichen. Gut, mir hat der Preis gefallen. Aber im Grunde läuft bei mir ja alles, und ja ich habe bereits 1 SSD verbaut, leider hat die nur 128 GB, was aber trotzdem ausreicht.

Läst du dich immer von "äusseren" Einflüssen so ablenken? ;) Was ist, wenn ich dir sage, dass ich seit Monaten nur noch "all-flash" Systeme verbaue? Man möchte def. nicht mehr zurück, wenn man es mal hatte.

Nein, der Eindruck trügt. Aber ich bin schon schnell zu begeistern... Ich kehre nur zur Vernunft zurück. Meine Entscheidung ist nicht gegen die neue Technologie der SSD gerichtet, deren Vorteile allseits bekannt sind und niemand ernsthaft anzweifelt. Es besteht zur Zeit nicht wirklich ein Bedarf, und ich hätte nur gekauft, weil es augenblicklich günstig erschien. Die Preise schwanken oft, nach Fukushima waren sie auf einen Allzeithoch, jetzt scheint es mittlerweile auch eine Marktsättigung zu geben.

Ich habe "ahci" fehler wie Bug #201194 unter FreeBSD-11.2 mit einer nagelneuen Samsung 860 Evo SSD 500GB. Ich sehe keine andere zeitnahe Lösung für das Problem, als eine andere SSD zu kaufen. Eine Cruzial MX500 mit 500GB ist schon fast ein Schnäppchen für unter 90 Euro, sollte allerding unter 11.2 auch einwandfrei funktionieren.

Ich habe "ahci" fehler wie Bug #201194 unter FreeBSD-11.2 mit einer nagelneuen Samsung 860 Evo SSD 500GB. Ich sehe keine andere zeitnahe Lösung für das Problem, als eine andere SSD zu kaufen.
Wenn du noch nicht hast, aktualisiere mal das BIOS des Hosts. Mit viel Glück bringt es ein neues Firmware-ROM für den AHCI-Controller, das hilft.
 
Besten dank pit234a für die ausfühliche Hardwarebeschreibung. Meine ist ähnlich gut "abgehangen". Hab ein Asus M4A87TD Mainborad, das kann allderdings schon SATA3 und ich will die SSD auf keinen fall auf SATA2 oder noch schlechter herunterregeln. (Macht doch kein Spaß oder?) Das letzte BIOS für mein Board ist vom Juli2011, ich glaube das ist drauf, werde das aber noch mal prüfen.
 
Ich hatte mal massive Hänger mit ner ansonsten okayen Platte. Erst das Ausschalten von 'aggressive aam/apm' im BIOS brachte die Lösung, damit es flutschte.
Ich hab das noch nicht oft bei BIOSen gesehen, mein Board ist ein Fujitsu D3161-A1.
Oder guck mal nach 'IDE legacy' oder so ähnlich und schau, dass es deaktiviert ist.
Ansonsten fällt mir auch nur noch BIOS flashen ein.

mein BIOS hat kein "agressive..." zum einstellen. Für sata-port5+6 kann ich "IDE" auswählen um optische Laufwerke zu betreiben. Ich hab alles auf "AHCI" gestellt und trotzdem kommen ahci-fehler.
Die samsung 860 evo ssd ist die einzige Platte die nicht richtig fünktioniert. MIt allen anderen gibt es keine Probleme. Auch mit der alten 120GB samsung 840 evo, kein Problem. Zum testen hab ich win10 installiert, könnt euch ja denken dass es problemlos läuft. Gleicher Rechner, Hardware... Kabel.
Irgendwo in 11.2 vermute ich das Problem, da auch andere nach dem Update von 11.1 auf 11.2 plötzlich ahci-fehler hatten. Das betrifft nicht nur AMD, sondern auch Intel Hardware.
Da 12.0 vor der Türe steht könnte ich mir vorstellen den 11er Zweig zu überspringen, bin ja erst von 10.4 auf 11.2 gewechselt.
Wer jetzt noch eine funktionierende SSD unter 11.2 am laufen hat bitte melden. Ich bin für alles offen.

Probier dich hier nochmal durch. Wenns mit SATA2 fest eingestellt funktioniert, kannst du dir ja das Geld sparen und auf die 12.0 warten. Wenns mit der 12.0 nicht haut, kann man immer noch Geld ausgeben. ;)

In meinem Laptop rennt eine Samsung MZ7PD256HAFV problemlos unter 11.2-RELEASE
