Problem mit Nvidia (FreeBSD 7.0 RC1)

Hallo Leute

Ich hab mir heute "frisch" FreeBSD 7.0 RC1 gezogen und installiert.
Dann versuchte ich meine Nvidia Geforce Grafikkarte mit 3D zum laufen zu bringen.

"make, make install , make clean" lief alles o.k. Keine Fehlermeldung.

Dann änderte ich noch eine Dinge in /boot/devices.hint und änderte meine Xorgconf (zu glx und nvidia). So wie ich es halt immer mache und bei FBSD 6.2 funktioniert hat.
Leider kann ich dann aber den Xserver nicht mehr starten. Xorg spukt folgende Fehlermeldung aus:

"No devices detected"

Auch nach langem herumprobieren, bin ich noch nicht hinter die Lösung gekommen, viellecht kann mir jemand hier im Forum weiterhelfen.

Ich nehme mal an, dass du damit die Installation des nVidia-Treiber aus den Ports meinst?

Deine Xorg.conf ist extrem unübersichtlich gestaltet, was wohl daran liegt, dass du sie nicht auf dem "empfohlenen Weg" generierst, sondern das Beispiel editierst. Folgende Sektion sehe ich als problematisch an:

Mal abgesehen davon, dass hier zwei Grafiktreiber "werkeln" sind dies mit ziemlicher Sicherheit nicht die optimalsten Einstellungen. Die sehen nämlich für z.B. eine nVidia GeForce 7900 GS so aus:

Das bekommt man, wenn man Xorg die Einstellungen selber machen lässt. Wie das geht steht im Handbuch:

Die hier beschrieben methode geht schnell (5 Minuten), erzeugt eine übersichtliche xorg.conf und dürfte weniger Fehler verursachen.
Falls er dir zuerst eine xorg.conf mit dem Treiber "nv" generiert, schreibst du an diese Stelle einfach "nvidia" und Schwupps, sollte alles perfekt gehen ;)
 
Die BusID ist vor allem wichtig, wenn man eine PCIe Karte einsetzt. Seinerzeit hatten die Boards nur einen AGP-Slot (was an seiner elektrischen Anbindung lag), welcher auch immer der erste PCI-Bus war. Daher erkannte X.org die Karte schon beim ersten Versuch immer korrekt, eine BusID war nicht nötig. Heute hast du mehrere PCIe-Slots an verschiedenen Brücken, wo die Karte steckt kann nicht gesagt werden. X.org muss sie also erst suchen und findet sie auch nicht zwingend.

Außerdem musst du beachten, das nicht jeder Blob von nVidia jede Karte unterstützt. Die aktuelle Version beginnt meines Wissens erst bei Geforce 6. Für Geforce 5 und die älteren Modelle brauchst du auch die älteren Blob-Versionen, die sich ebenfalls in den Ports finden.
 
Wenn du ein nVidia-Chipsatz auf dem Mo-Board hast, kann es etwas bringen, das nvidia-Modul gleich beim Hochfahren des Systems zu laden. Damit hab ich die Graka auf meinem Schleppi zum Laufen bekommen.

Die aktuelle Version beginnt meines Wissens erst bei Geforce 6. Für Geforce 5 und die älteren Modelle brauchst du auch die älteren Blob-Versionen, die sich ebenfalls in den Ports finden.

Ah o.k, hier koennte das Problem liegen.
Ich besitze eine Geforce 4 MX 440 mit 128MB Ram.

Es gibt in der Portscollection 3 verschiedene Nvidia Treiber Versionen. Welcher Treiber unterstuetzt die alte Geforce 4?
 
Ich weiß es nicht, aber vom Gefühl her würde ich auf 96xx tippen. Ich meine der 71xx ist für Geforce 1 bis 3.
