Diskless Client / NFS rootfs - Problem mit Locks

Ich hab einen Diskless Client aufgesetzt der sein "/" von einem NFS Server bezieht. Soweit so gut. Beim booten bekomme ich jetzt immer Fehlermeldungen im Stil von

Das passiert sowohl beim lokal laufenden sendmail als auch bei anderen Programmen. Ich hab mittlerweile herausgefunden das das wohl ein Problem mit dem NFS sein soll welches kein Filelocking unterstützt. Als Abhilfe wurde mir, soweit ich das richtig verstanden hab, empfohlen auf dem Server und dem Client den rpc.lockd und den rpc.statd laufen zu lassen. Leider hab ich das Problem immer noch, auch nachdem ich die beiden Programme gestartet, bzw. beim Client in die /etc/rc.conf eingetragen hab.

Kann mir da vielleicht jemand helfen?

Systeme:
Server: Dual PIII@500MHz / Asus P2B-D2 / FreeBSD 5.4-RC4
Client: AMD XP3000+ / Asus A7V600-x / FreeBSD 5.4-RC4
