3D auf einer SIS Karte

Hi

Hat jemand schon mal 3D auf dieser Karte zum laufen bekommen?

Oder besser: ist das überhaupt möglich? Neue Karte ist keine Option, zumal es ein Onboardteil ist. Entweder es geht oder eben nicht.

Hab eben nach der Anleitung aus dem Wiki versuchsweise DRM (das SIS Modul) einkompiliert und dri und glx in meiner xorg.conf eingetragen, danach fährt X nicht mehr hoch. (No Screens found)

Gibts da nen anderen Weg? Hab ich was völlig verkehrt gemacht?

Ich finde es seltsam, dass es gar keinen mit (EE) gekennzeichnete Meldung im Log gibt. Das hätte ich bei "No screens found" wenigstens erwartet. :confused:

Hm, macht er auch nicht mehr. Hab dri und glx in der xorg.conf aktiviert und er fährt sauber hoch. Kann aber nicht sagen wieso. Könnte sein das es damit zusammenhängt das ich nach dem Posting weiterversucht hab es zu aktivieren unddabei evtl was geändert hab was mir vorher in die Quere kam. 3D ist dennoch nicht aktiviert. Laut (neuem) Log meint er dri wäre nicht aktiviert / funktionell, glxinfo bestätigt das auch.

Eventuell könnte es daran liegen, dass der Treiber bei diesem Grafikchip nicht verwendet wird. Ich habe einfach mal deine Daten von der Ausgabe von pciconf genommen und eine entsprechende Zeile in den Treibercode eingefügt:

dri ist installiert (eben nochmal geprüft) und im Kernel sind die passenden drm Module fest eingebaut.
Kernel baut nun, werd solang drüber schlafen, dauert ja ne Weile.

So, kurz vorweg: Hab das nun getestet und es geht nicht. Der SIS Teiber sagt das dri auf diesem Chipset nicht supported wird.

Hab den patch von dir einkompiliert, der Kernel lädt das drm auch entsprechend.

An xorg.conf wurde nichts geändert. Ich vermute mal da es sich bei dem Chipset um eine Billigimplementierung handelt die das gewünschte nicht unterstützt oder das der Treiber noch nicht so weit ist. (Obwohl das Board schon aelter ist, ca 2003 gekauft.) Hm. Unter Windows hatte sie damals grundlegende Fähigkeiten, Freundin hat mit dem Teil immer "Sims" gespielt. Sollte dann wohl am Treiber liegen. Einen Versuch wars erstmal wert, ich danke dir jedenfalls erstmal für deine Mühe.

Ja, Schade. Es liegt dann wohl wirklich daran, dass der Chip nicht DRI-fähig ist. Ich hab auch mal in den Quelltext von X.org kurz reingeschaut und demnach steckt auf dem Board ein SiS315-kompatibler Grafikchip, der von X.org generell nicht als DRI-fähig anerkannt wird. Man könnte jetzt höchstens noch versuchen X.org das ignorieren zu lassen, allerdings glaube ich nicht, dass das etwas bringen wird. Im Zuge der Sparmaßnahmen lassen Hersteller oft so allerhand unter den Tisch fallen; und da Windows nunmal Zielplattform Nr. 1 ist, kann ich mir vorstellen, dass DRI ohne Tränenvergießen wegrationalisiert wird.

Sieht wohl so aus. Ist auch nicht ganz so tragisch da die Kiste im wesentlichen als Arbeitsrechner dient. Wäre halt ganz nett gewesen wenn die Karte die DRI Features unterstützen würde, einen Versuch wars auf jedenfall wert. Vielleicht bekommt sie bei Gelegenheit eine alte PCI Karte spendiert, die kosten ja nicht die Welt.
