drucker empfängt keine daten

hi @ all,

ich habe meinen laserdrucker an meinen freebsd server angeschlossen und wollte einen printserver einrichten. mein prolblem ist das der drucker irgenwie keine daten empfängt. es ist ein brother hl2030 mit usb. wenn ich ihn anschliese erscheinen in /dev die einträge ulpt0 unlpt0 soweit so gut.
ein einfaches cat /etc/rc.conf > /dev/ultp0 bring aber schon nichts. nicht einmal die lämpchen blinken.

ich habe auch lpd eingerichtet aber da kommt auch kein output

die filter habe ich von der brotherhomepage geladen.

gehört daemon:daemon und die rechte sind 770

in der /var/spool/lpd/2030/status steht
hl2030 is ready and printing

kann mir irgendjemand helfen?

Also wenn nichteinmal bei "cat /etc/rc.conf > /dev/ultp0" etwas passiert weiss ich auch nicht worann es liegt.
Vielleicht überprüfst Du mal die Hardware => USB-Kabel...
- funktioniert NUR der Drucker am USB nicht?
- ist das Kabel vielleicht defekt?
- hast Du den USB-Port mal mit anderen Geräten getestet?
- hast Du noch einen externen HUB drann?
- wenn noch mehr drann hängt, probier mal NUR den Drucker drann mal aus...

So würde ich erstmal vorgehen, sonst weiss ich auch nicht.


P.S.: Ich habe mir meine USB-Ports mit einer (39,-EURO-)USB-Maus (optisch) reihenweise abgeschossen. Seit ich einen Switch (Arbeitsplatzumschalter => vier Rechner und ein Monitor-Tastatus-Maus) dazwischen geschaltet habe bleiben auch meine USB-Ports heil.
Also manchmal ist das schon komisch...

hat das ding noch parallelportanschhluss?
hat dein rechner noch parallelportanschluss?

wird der ueberhaupt beim booten erkannt? gib mal deine dmesg her.
weil sonst hast du jetzt naemlich eine datei mit dem namen /dev/ulpt0 wo alles drinnesteht was du drucken wolltest...
 
ulpt funktioniert mit dem einigen Druckern, die sowohl einen Parallelport-Anschluss als auch einen für USB haben, nicht wirklich. Das Problem ist, dass die Drucker intern die USB-Daten in welche von Parallelport umwandeln. Daher geben sie keine Empfangsbestätigung zurück (müssen sie laut Standart auch nicht), BSD sendet kein zweites Paket. Stattdessen geht davon aus, dass der Drucker sich offline geschaltet hat und bleibt hängen. Im Syslog taucht die Meldung "ulpt0: offline" auf. Der Drucker zeigt jedoch endlos "Datenempfang" an.
Irgendwann wird BSD dann auf gut Glück das nächste Paket senden, nur wer will schon 10 Minuten (!) euf eine Seite Text warten???

Versuche mal folgendes:

1. Schalte ACPI mal ab (keine Ahnung ob das was bringt, aber es hat sich nunmal als Routinebehandlung eingebürgert...)
2. Nimm ehci mal aus dem Kernel raus, dass Ding ist nur beta...
3. Wenn möglich schalte USB im BIOS mal auf "normal mode" (12 MB/s) zurück
