FBSD 8.1 auf HP DL385 Server

Hallo,

FBSD 8.0 läuft tadellos auf dem HP DL385 und DL 380er Server aber das 8.1-RELEASE kriege ich nicht ab Boden. Die Netzwerkkarten klemmen, entweder Freezed er oder er sieht die NIC nicht.
Kennt dfas jemand, weiss jemand Rat oder muss ich auf 8.2 warten?

Mit Intel geht das Spiel schon wieder los. Der Codefreeze beginnt in einigen Tagen. Vorgestern kam die Intel-Truppe dann in die Gänge, hat ihr Update in -CURRENT eingefügt. Das brach natürlich erst einmal den Build, wie jedes Mal. Ein gutes Zeichen, dass dort im Vorfeld nicht richtig getestet wurde. Das ganze soll natürlich so schnell wie möglich ("MFC: in a few days, this delta needs to get to 8.2") in 8-STABLE zurück... Also ganz doll die Daumen drücken, damit das gut geht. Oder auf andere NICs mit besseren Treibern setzen. Ich wage es ja kaum auszusprechen, aber die Realtek RTL8168 laufen inzwischen um Weiten besser als die Intel-Teile. :/
 
Was soll sowas? Kann man denen vllt. mal nen Bot schreiben der das ganze 4 Wochen vorverlegt für sie ;-)? Haben die Realtek NICs etwa mit der weile LRO(4|6), TSO(4|6) und aus reichende Puffergrößen? Gib es das diesmal wenigstens als Errata, wenn sie erwartungsgemäß verkacken?
 
Jo, mal mit dem alten Kernel ins 8.0 booten, dann solltest du die wieder hoch bekommen, oder mal mit nem rescue System von CD ran.
 
Da ich gerne ein DL 380er mit 8.2 am laufen hätte suche ich nun Lösungen... Ein 8.0-RELEASE läuft einwanfrei mit ZFS und allem drumm und dran. Das 8.1 lässt sich nicht installieren weil der installer zu schnell aufgiebt und sagt er könne ftp.freebsd.org nicht auflösen. noch bevor das bg0 interface überhaupt ready ist. Leider :-(

Also, unter 8.0-RELEASE läuft der HP DL380er einwandfrei..

Da ich das System aber nun komplett neu aufsetzen muss und dan nproduktiv nehmen möchte wäre eben 8.1 schon noch sexy...

Werde vermutlich ein 8.0er System produktiv nehmen müssen und später updaten... Vermutlich am sichersten.

Habe soeben irgendwo im Netz gelesen, dass in den USA etliche 8.1 auf einem HP DL385er laufen haben.

Hat jemand eine Ahnung wo man da ansetzen müsste um das Teil zu laufen zu bringen?

Oder allenfalls auch ein DL380, wäre auch perfekt..
 
Habe nun auf dem DL380er ein 8.1-RELEASE am laufen...
Die beiden Netzinterfaces bge0 und bge1 scheinen noch nicht wirklich saber implementiert zu sein..

Workaround -- alte 3COM eingebaut und hopp den Besen...


Als nächstes werde ich das auf dem DL385 auch versuchen... mal sehen..
