FreeBSD 7.0 auf Mac Pro Xeon

Hallo Zusammen,

mit ist nicht ganz klar welche Version von FreeBSD auf einem Mac Pro mit Xeon Prozessor installiert werden kann, die i386 Version funktioniert jedoch brauche ich 64 bit support, amd64 hängt beim booten des Kernels "Trying to mount root from ufs:/dev/md0" und die ia64 installation endet schon beim laden de efi bootloaders.

Weiss jemand welche boot CD zu verwenden ist und wie man am besten vorgeht?

IA64 ist falsch, das ist für den Itanium. AMD64 funktioniert.

Wie viel RAM hast Du? Welches Mac Pro Modell hast Du? Wie installierst Du? Von CD? Sind Deine CDs gut, d.h. hast Du die Checksummen geprüft?

- Das Model ist das 2x2.8 GHz 2008er Model

Ja die CDs sind gut es scheint als könne der installations Kernel nicht gestartet werden
im safe mode hängt er bei "Trying to mount root from ufs:..."
im normal mode hängt er bei "timeout - read_big..."
mit ACPI off hängt er bei "Trying to mount root from ufs:..."
 
Hast du mal eine Netinstall CD vrsucht oder eine 6.3 Release?
Wenn es dort auch hängt kannste ja mal ein 7.1 Pre probieren und schauen ob der Fehler weg ist.

Gab's den MacPro jemals mit nur zwei Kernen? Naja, egal, jedenfalls ist das nicht das aktuelle Modell, oder? Falls das stimmt, dann kann ich Dir versichern, dass FreeBSD/amd64 auf dem Teil mit Sicherheit geht, kann Dir aber im Moment nicht sagen, welche Version bzw. was nötig war um's zum laufen zu bekommen da ich gerade keinen Zugriff habe. Evtl kann ich Dir nächste Woche mehr sagen.
 
Ja die Maschine hat 2x4x2.8GHz Kerne aber nur zwei Prozessoren. Das ist schon die neuste Machine.

Die 7.1 Version scheint auch nicht zu funktionieren, ich benutze immer die bootonly CD. Kann es sein das die anderen images besser funktionieren? Probiers mal noch mit dem 6.3 release.
