Hallo,
ich habe auf FreeBSD 7.2 Gnome-2.26 installiert. Nun versuche ich es zum laufen zu kriegen. Jedoch scheitert es, nachdem ich den X Server mit startx starten will. Ich bekomme folgende Meldung:

wie hast du X installiert?

Bei mehreren Installationen in verschiedenen FreeBSD-Versionen hatte ich genau solch merkwürdiges Verhalten festgestellt und konnte sie dadurch lösen, dass ich die entsprechenden Ports neu baute, also nicht als Paket installierte.
Die Schriften, die zuvor installiert waren und auch die Pfade sehen absolut identisch aus, wie danach. Trotzdem macht es irgendeinen Unterschied.
Leider musste ich bei den Installationen damals so ziemlich alle Fonts neu bauen und ich glaube scließlich auch Xorg-Server und -driver.

Das könnte sein. Ich habe X über sysinstall von der Installationsdisk der 7.0 Version von FreeBSD installiert. Das heißt, ich deinstalliere X baue die entsprechenden Ports neu, und installiere es dann neu. Aber über die ports?

Bei mir waren es Installationen aus dem Netz und über portinstall -P, also wohl Pakete aus dem netz, während dann bei dir die von CD stammen.
Bei mir (ist das schone in wenig her) habe ich mich durchgehangelt und also erst den Port der TTFs gebaut, die den Fehler meckerten. Danach wurde eine andere Schrift angemekrt und so weiter.
Ja, das habe ich dann aus den Ports neu gebaut und es dauerte eine Weile und es funktionierte damals bei mir, aber die Ursache habe ich nicht wirklich verstanden oder durchblickt. Es war blindwütiges Agieren bei ziemlicher Ahnungslosigkeit. Ob das als Tip für dich taugt, musst du sehen.
