Hoher LOAD, mbufs Werte extrem hoch

Hi,

habe einen FreeBSD Server am laufen, der sich in letzter Zeit extrem komisch verhält.

Ist die 5.4er Version drauf.

Als Dienste laufen die aktuellsten Versionen von proftpd, pound, apache, ssh2. Named läuft als CachingNameServer. Soweit so gut ...

Seit ca. 3 Wochen steigt der LOAD unregelmäßg auf bis zu 10 und bleibt dort. Starte ich named neu, geht er rasch wieder runter. Also named mal abgeschalten und die DNS-Server vom Provider vorgezogen. Load ging wieder hoch :-(

Dann mal netstat -m angeschaut .... sieht so aus wie folgt:

12121069 mbufs in use
4286689353/60000 mbuf clusters in use (current/max)
0/3/6656 sfbufs in use (current/peak/max)
3251597 KBytes allocated to network
0 requests for sfbufs denied
0 requests for sfbufs delayed
0 requests for I/O initiated by sendfile

Sieht nicht wirklich gut aus, oder?

Habe laut Handbuch die Netzwerkeinstellungen hochgeschraubt:

kern.ipc.maxsockbuf=2097152
kern.ipc.somaxconn=8192
kern.maxfiles=65536
kern.maxfilesperproc=32768

Brachte aber nichts, die Werte liefen kurze Zeit nach reboot wieder so voll.

Hier noch ein top -St ( hoffe es ist bissel was erkennbar ):

Bin mittlerweile bissel ratlos ... Festplatten sind ok, durchsätze einwandfrei, auch keine dmesg Fehler erkennbar.

So richtig viel zu tun hat der Server auch nicht, ein paar FTP Uploads, verteilen von ca. 25.000 Visits per Tag ( auf andere Webserver ).


Habt Ihr eine Idee?

Da ist der Hund begraben: Massiver NFS-Verkehr über die em1-Netzwerkkarte! Der FreeBSD-Server scheint aber nur der NFS-Client zu sein?! Bitte beachte das Kapitel "Integrationsprobleme mit anderen Systemen" vom FreeBSD-Handbuch:

Hallo Andreas,

ja ... hat per NFS das FTP- und Web-Root Verzeichnis eingebunden.

Der NFS Server ist eine 6.0er Maschine, komischerweise zeigen die anderen Server ( auch NFS-Clients ) nicht diese hohe Auslastung ... eventuell Netzwerkkarte im Eimer?

Der Traffic hat sich eigentlich nicht geändert, nur die Auslastung!

Danke für den Tipp ... werde dem mal nachgehen!

Ja, der Server ist ein 6.0er FreeBSD.

Mit dem Polling habe ich verstanden und werde es testen!
