Verzeichnisgröße ohne Dot Verzeichnisse

Ganz einfach, wie ermittle ich die Verzeichnisgröße ohne diese Verzeichnisse. In meinem spez. Fall ist das ein Projekt mit langer Historie und vielen .git Verzeichnissen. Ich vermute mal das da keine Symlinks drin sind.

PATTERN is a shell pattern (not a regular expression). The pattern ?
matches any one character, whereas * matches any string (composed of
zero, one or multiple characters). For example, *.o will match any
files whose names end in .o. Therefore, the command

du --exclude='*.o'

will skip all files and subdirectories ending in .o (including the file
.o itself).

Welches OS hast du? NetBSD weiss ich nicht aber bei FreeBSD gibt es die Option "-I". Die Lösung von "gadean" ist glaube ich die GNU Version von "du".
