Ich habe jetzt mal anstelle eines orangen ein rotes Kabel (denke die Farbe duerfte keinen Unterschied machen) rangesteckt.

Der Output von smartctl ist exakt der selbe.
Der short-test, den ich mal auf die schnelle gemacht habe sagt, er habe keine Fehler gefunden.

Kann ich ZFS irgendwie beibringen, dass er die Sektoren, wo die Fehler aufkommen nicht mehr benutzen soll?

An den gleichen Anschluss auf dem Bord bzw. Controller oder da auch gewechselt?


Zu den Sektoren: auf der UBCD sind ein paar Programme mit drauf, mit denen man Sektoren manuell als ungültig markieren kann. Aber das ist meines Erachtens der letzte Versuch und einer Festplatte, die so behandelt wurde sollte man keine wichtigen Daten mehr anvertrauen. Wenn Du es versuchen wiillst, dann bitte wie die Igel.....

ich habe die Platte jetzt mal an einen anderen Anschluss rangeklemmt und es kommt das selbe Ergebnis.

Gibt es denn keine FreeBSD/ZFS Boardmittel die fehlerhaften Sektoren zu ignorieren?

Klingt mysteriös. Kannst Du die Platte in einen anderen Rechner hängen und nochmal mit smartctl abfragen? Einfach um sicherzugehen, dass der Fehler in der Platte ist.

Ich habe jetzt die Platte aus dem Pool genommen und laufe zu Testzwecken das Raid-Z nur mit 2 Platten.

Es scheint aber noch mehr Probleme zu geben:

Klingt nach Daten sichern und Rechner wegschmeißen ... :rolleyes:
Ich habe auch schon mal ein halbes Jahr auf so einen Rechner verplempert, irgendwas tat es immer nicht. Ich habe auch nie rausgefunden was oder warum.

Große Datenmengen sichere ich am liebsten mit rsync, auch lokal von einer zur anderen Stelle oder übers Netz.

Wenn es so anfängt, kann es praktisch alles sein. Die Platte, das Kabel, der Controller, der RAM, die CPU, eine kalte Lötstelle auf dem Mainboard, das Netzteil... Höre auf peterle. Wenn du den Fehler nicht bald findest, wirst du es auch eher nicht und solltest aufgeben. Schade um das Geld, aber was soll's.

Es sieht so aus, als ob ich jetzt die Probleme behoben habe.
Insgesamt lag es an mehreren Dingen:

+ defekte Festplatte
+ "calcru: runtime went backwards" errors und daraufhin freezes/panics
+ vm.kmem_size und vfs.zfs.arc_max
+ und ein halbdefekter USB Stick von dem gebooted wurde

Alles in allem ne Menge nerven gekostet!!


Jetzt ueberlege ich mir, ob ich nicht doch mein Desktop Mainboad nehme, denn das kann ECC RAM,allerdings hat da die CPU nicht genug bums.

Derzeit laeuft mein Server mit einem Gigabtye GA-EP45-UD3 und einem Intel Coe2Duo E8400 @ 3.00GHz

Damit ich ECC RAM haben koennte muesste ich auf ein:
ASUS M4A785-M mit AMD Athlond 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ 2.7Ghz abruesten.


Wuerdet ihr mir dazu raten, die fehlende CPU Power in kauf zu nehmen um ECC Ram reinbauen zu koennen, oder eher nicht?

Mit einem BIOS Update dürfte auch ein günstiger AM3 Athlon X4 laufen. Der L3 Cache eines Phenom II macht sich als Fileserver nicht so bemerkbar.

kenne ich von meiner Asus EeeBOX, da bietet das aktuelle BIOS nämlich übertakten des Intel n270 Atömchens an,
so auf etwa 1,7 anstatt 1,6 GHz. Abstürzten, einfrieren oder Panik gibt es auf der EeeBOX aber trotzdem nicht.
Ist aber auch besserer RAM drin als sein müsste. Anstatt dem 533 MHz RAM habe ich dem Mini gleich etwas besseren DDR2-800 RAM gegönnt. Der nimmt dann auch das übertakten nicht krumm.

Die Frage ist jetzt natuerlich, ob es in diesem Fall nicht Sinn macht eher ein neues Board zu holen, wo DDR3 ECC RAM rein paast, da ja DDR2 ja fast schon doppelt so teuer ist und, wenn ich jetzt 16GB neue DDR2 ECC kaufe, waere das vielleict schon eine Ueberlegung wert.:confused:
