Hallo

Ich habe ein Notebook, an das ich einen externen TFTMonitor anschliessen moechte, und das ganze mittels xinerama.

Leider kommt es zu einer Fehlermeldung beim Start des XORG-Servers und es erfolgt ein Abbruch des Starts.

Das Notebook ist ein Samsung Q35 mit einer Auflösung von 1280x800.
Die Grafikkarte ist eine Intel i945GM.
Der externe Bildschirm ist ein TFT mit einer Auflösung von 1280x1024.

Dein Ansatz ist etwas veraltet (jedenfalls falls du xorg-7.3 verwendest). Hast du mal versucht nach dem HowTo im Wiki vorzugehen?

Ich werde wohl mit dem VirtualSize arbeiten müssen.

Wie schaut denn das nun aus:
Ich habe am Notebook die Auflösung 1280x800
und
der externe Bildschirm hat 1280x1024.

Muss ich nun die Screens untereinander anordnen? Da ja nur die 1280 übereinstimmt.
Verstehe ich das richtig, dass, wenn ich die Screens nebeneinander anordnen würde, ich von dem gesamten VirstualSize nicht alles auf meine Bildschirme bekomme, da der eine nur Y=800 und der andere Y=1024 hat?

Nein nein die Erklärung ist schon gut.
Ich habe mir jetzt mal ein wenig Zeit und Ruhe genommen und alles durchgearbeitet.
Dabei kam eine Konfiguration raus, die nun bei mir die gewünschten Einstellung hat und das ganze funktioniert auch (mit externem Bildschirm).

Mich wundert nur die Durchnummerierung der Monitore. Mein Notebook-Bildschrim ist die 2 und der externe Bildschirm hat die 1.
Wonach richtet sich die Reihenfolge?

Meinst du die Reihenfolge in der die Ausgänge von xrandr ausgegeben werden? Keine Ahnung. Ich denke das ist die Reihenfolge in der der Treiber die Ausgänge angibt.

Eine abschließende Sache.
Ich wollte nun auf einem der Monitore per Vollbild das Programm Krdc laufen lassen. Sobald ich dort in den Vollbild-Modus wechsle, hängt ein Teil davon in meinem anderen Monitor. Hat noch jemand diesen Effekt?

Das liegt entweder am Programm selbst oder am Window Manager. Du kannst es aber mit den meisten Windowmanagern immer noch nachträglich auf den gewollten Bildschirm schieben (selbst im Vollbildmodus).
 
Falls du das hinbekommen hast, sag mal bescheid. Ich hab mir mit meinem Q35 und nem LCD Fernseher mit 1280x1024 und VGA-Anschluss die Zaehne ausgebissen.

Was passiert, wenn du den Xserver mit angeschlossenem Monitor abschiesst(Strg+Alt+Backspace)?
Startet X wieder normal, oder vertauscht er NB-Display und angeschlossenen Monitor

Das selbe mit nicht angeschlossenem Bildschirm - funktioniert das einwandfrei?

Weil alle drei Punkte hier bei nem HP-NB mit selber Grafikkarte und oldstyle xorg.conf vorkommen. Der Treiber oder die Karte scheint grundsätzlich zu melden, dass da was am Kabel hängt.

Ich hab da momentan kein FreeBSD drauf. Als ich die Probleme hatte, hab ich ein anderes System draufgespielt, daher mein Interesse, ob das inzwischen funktioniert.
Auf dem NB kann ich unmöglich rumtesten. Wenn ich eine reele Chance sehe, dass die Probleme inzwischen behoben sind, dann würde ich es nochmal probieren, wenn das Teil im Urlaub nicht im Einsatz ist. Aber auch wirklich nur dann...

Ich habe erst heute gesehen, dass es hier ja doch noch weiter geht :-)

Wenn ich RightOf eingestellt habe und nur mein Notebook ohne externen eingesteckten Bildschirm eingeschaltet ist, ist es, als haette ich nur meine 1280x800. Die Maus verrennt sich nicht etc...
Problematisch war es da, als ich Above einstellte. Da kam es zu eigenartigen Effekten, die mir schnell die Nerven raubten. Above wollte ich, um mit VirtualSize im Rahmen von 2048x2048 zu bleiben, damit dri noch geht (siehe Hinweise zu intel). Aber die nervliche Belastung durch das Verhalten war zu gross, so habe ich auf dri verzichtet und RightOf genommen :-)

Zur zweiten Frage kann ich Dir Montag anrtworten. Bin nicht im Büro. Aber ich vermute, dann ist es so, als haettest Du nie den externen angeschlossen und meine erste Antwort gilt.

Ich hab auch grad gesehen, dass die Definitionen für die Karten inzwischen in 6.2 eingeflossen sind. Das waren sie, als ich das letzte Mal getestet hatte noch nicht. Ich hab hier die 915GM und hatte damals dann noch probiert die Definitionen selbst in agp_i810.c einzu pflegen, wodurch dann die Karte erkannt wurde, aber immernoch oben genannte Probleme auftraten.
Klingt als würd ich noch nen Test wagen :-)
