FreeBSD 10.1 geli verschlüsseltes root - Passwort funktioniert nicht

Hallo allerseits,

nachdem ich da schon länger rumgebastelt habe, möchte ich hier mal fragen.

Wenn die Aufforderung zur Passworteingabe kommt beim geli, kann ich das Passwort eingeben, bekomme als Antwort aber
Code:
GEOM_ELI: Wrong key for ada0p4. Tries left:2.

dann kann ich insgesamt 6 mal das passwort eingeben, je 3 mal für
Code:
ada0p4
diskid/DISK-....
gpt/zfs0
danach kann das System natürlich das root nicht mounten.

Rechner: Thinkpad T420
Partitionierung: gpt (mit mbr bootet er gar nicht, zeigt nur 3-4 seltsame Zeichen an)

gpt bootfähig gemacht mit folgendem:

liegt an dem kaputten UEFI - BIOS des T420, booten geht dann, nachdem die Partitionstabelle mit fdisk so manipuliert wurde. Die zpools müssen dafür exportiert sein, sonst schreibt fdisk keine Partitionstabelle.

Für den Test bisher lasse ich mir das Passwort schon anzeigen,
in /boot/loader.conf steht unter anderem:

Zum Glück habe ich noch einen anderen Rechner.
Dort funktioniert das ganze. Das ist ein Lenovo R400. Ist die gleiche Festplatte, stecke sie dort rein, und es bootet erfolgreich.

Vielleicht kann mir ja jemand einen Hinweis geben, was ich noch tun könnte. Was ich im Internet fand, zieht sich dieses Problem ja schon sehr lange hin.
 
Klingt nach einem sehr seltsamen Tastaturproblem. Hast Du das mal mit einer USB-Tastatur getestet?
 
Probiert ja, gerade eben.

Hilft aber nichts.

Was aber noch komischer ist, auch in dem R400 funktioniert es nicht, wenn die Geli Platte die einzige Platte ist.

Ich hatte noch eine andere drin, unverschlüsselt, der zpool heißt auch anders, eine ältere 10.0 version FreeBSD drauf.

Wenn diese Platte dransteckt akzeptiert er das Passwort. Wenn nicht, dann nicht.
 
Hast du beim initialisieren der Platte(n) (geli init) mit dem Parameter -k gearbeitet?
Wäre meine Vermutung bei der Meldung "wrong key".
 
Ja, das hat zwar der Installer gemacht, aber war mit -K.

und noch zur Dokumentationsergänzung die Sache mit der Festplatte bootfähig machen,
das betrifft speziell die Laptop Serie Lenovo T420 / T520 / X220 - habe nur T420, weiß auch nicht, ob das mal mit einem Bios Update behoben wurde. Die bootet sonst wohl nur mit GPT in Kombination mit EFI. Oder mit MBR, was hier auch nicht funktionierte.

Das heißt also, der Verdacht ist daß es an der keyfile liegt.

Die Probleme mit der Tastatur hatte ich vorher schon mal ab und zu, deshalb hatte ich da jetzt etwas rumprobiert.
Aber vielleicht wird es ja doch noch etwas. So wie es jetzt ist funktioniert zumindest die Tastatureingabe.
Daß die keyfiles auf die falsche Platte verweisen ist ja nachvollziehbar.
 
Aus offensichtlichen Gründen ist es immer besser, Platten über irgendeine ID anzusprechen.

z.B. für /dev/label/foo:

Analog dazu sollten alle anderen IDs auch gehen.
 
TCM: In diesem Fall (GELI verschlüsseltes root fs) ist es sehr lästig die Platten über IDs anzusprechen, weil die die Platten zu erst über Treiber und Index auftauchen und du dann (by default) 3 Mal Enter drücken musst. Es gibt afaik keinen Weg die Reihenfolge zu beeinflussen in der GELI die Platten versucht zu entschlüsseln.
 
Ich dachte, durch das "label/foo:geli_keyfile0" gibt man vor, für welches Device das ist. Ich hab bei mir allerdings nur Keyfiles ohne zusätzliche Passwörter und damit absolut keine Probleme.
 
Damit sagst du ihm zwar für welche Devices die Keyfiles sind, aber du hältst den Kernel nicht davon ab alle Devices der Reihe nach zu probieren (optional mit den zugeordneten Keyfiles).
 
Wenn das wirklich so ist, wäre das ja mal.. äh.. leicht dämlich. Dass ZFS alles Mögliche angrabbelt und versucht, einen Pool zu finden, ist ja OK, aber wenn ich GELI sage, der Key ist für dieses Device, warum sollte es dann irgendwelche anderen Devices damit aufmachen wollen?

Meine loader.conf hat GELI-Einträge für 12 Platten. Die werden beim Booten alle sauber eingebunden über ihre /dev/label/... Einträge.
 
Das Problem ist, dass geli trotzdem zuerst das andere Device probiert. Halt ohne den keyfile. Das heißt Du musst da erst mal 3 mal die Passworteingabe für das Device wegdrücken, bevor das Label dran kommt.
 
Edit: Stimmt schon, wenn man natürlich ein PW gesetzt hat.

Bei mir läuft das ein bisschen anders. Der Server bootet per TFTP und auf dem TFTP-Server muss ich zur Bootzeit manuell ein Script anstoßen, was ein tmpfs über ${tftproot}/boot/keys mountet und dort per PBKDF2 aus einem einmal einzugebenden Passwort die Keyfiles berechnet. Nach dem Boot wird das tmpfs dann wieder zerstört. Der Server bootet dann normal von einem lokalen ZFS weiter, welches auf den GELI-Platten liegt.
