FreeBSD 6.1 Installation / xorgcfg Grafikartendatenbank fehlt

Natürlich lese ich die Antworten, auch mehrmals...:)

Ich suche aber kein Kompromis, sprich eine Auflösug mit 1024x768 oder 1280x1024, sondern eine Lösung meines Problems, und zwar X mit der gleichen Auflösung wie unter WinXp, sprich "1680x1050" laufen zu lassen, deswegen bin ich auch nicht zufrieden.;)

X konnte ohne Fehlermeldung gestartet werden, die Auflösung war jedoch "1280x1024"

Auch ergaben grepp (EE) und (WW) nichts.

Die Auflösung in KDE ist noch immer "1280x1024". Ich kann Auflösung auch nicht höher setzen.

Vermute mal, dass der Treiber nur die eingebauten Modi versteht, und 1680x1050 leider nicht dabei ist ;'(

Du kannst die Ports aktualisieren und anschliessend den neusten Treiber installieren. Vielleicht hilf das ja.

Der nVidia-Blob kann nur Modi ansprechen, die im BIOS der Grafikkarte vorhanden sind. Ist der Mode das nicht -> geht nicht.

Wenn du das so nicht hinnehmen möchtest: Es gibt für Windows Tools, mit denen man das BIOS der Grafikkarte auslesen kann, manipulieren und (unter DOS) wieder raufflashen. Wenn der Rechner einen PCI-Slot hat und du eine PCI-Graka zur Hand hast, ist das ganze verhältnismäßig risikolos. Wenn das Flashen schief geht, baut man die PCI-Karte rein und kann im DOS das alte BIOS wieder aufflashen
