Hallo zusammen,
probiere hier nochmal den Nvidia Treiber zum rennen zu bewegen.
Derzeit kann ich X nur mit dem Treiber NV in der Xorg.conf starten. Die Graphik ausgabe ist aber sehr langsam.
Als System rennt hier ein BSD 6.4
Nach dem ich alles installiert habe und mal eine X auf der Console eingebeben habe, bekomme ich folgende Fehlermeldung

Ich kann mit dem Fehler "Caught signal 10. Server aborting " nichts anfangen. Was hat as zu bedeuten. Kann mich mal einer aufklären.

Beim nächsten mal ein Code Block bitte. Versuch mal die Farbtiefe auf 32 zu stellen. Ich meine irgendwo mal gelesen zu haben, das mache man bei den nvidia Treibern so.
 
Ich würde mal ein simples:
portupgrade -f nvidia-driver
probieren. Kann nicht schaden und hilft meist bei Signal 10, welches ein Hinweis auf kaputte Libraries ist. Tritt auf, wenn ein anderer Port Teile von nvidia-driver überschreibt.

hat beides nichts gebracht. Sobald ich den Nvidia in der xorg einbaue, bekomme ich den oben genannten Fehler.

Das Problem an der Sache ist, das der aufbau des Bildschirms einfach zu langsam ist.
Habe Karte auch unter Windows am laufen und da ist der aufbau um einiges schneller.
Kann X nur mit dem NV starten.
 
Ja, dass du vermutlich den falschen nvidia-Treiber hast. Es gibt mittlerweile 3 verschiedene Treiber. Der aktuellste unterstützt viele ältere Karten nicht mehr. Deshalb sind ältere Versionen in die Ports aufgenommen worden. Siehe dazu auch /usr/ports/UPDATING:

Aber wenn ich mir den Appendix-A ansehe dann ist die

"GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X"

da drin enthalten und wird mit dem Treiber " 1.0-96xx" unterstützt

Ich hantier hier immer noch mit dem NV treiber rum und der Grafik aufbau ist einfach zu langsam. Wollte mal ein paar 3D Sachen ausprobieren klappt nicht die Bohne. Ich weiss einfach nicht mehr weiter.
