OpenBSD 4.3 und EIZO S2431W

glaubt an OpenBSD
Hallo Gemeinschaft,

dies ist mein erster Beitrag hier und zugleich ein neuer Thread. Bitte schlagt also nicht gleich zu hart zu. :zitter:

Ich habe nun einen neuen Monitor, den EIZO S2431W, super Gerät, unter OpenBSD bleibt der Bildschirm schwarz bzw. nur Striche und Pattern.

Probiert habe ich es analog wie digital, das "Testbild" sieht jeweils anders aus, jedoch keine Funktion. Getestet habe ich bisher mit OpenBSD 4.3/release. Da ich gelesen habe, dass man die Auflösungen auskommentieren soll, wenn man DDC verwenden will, habe ich dies auch bereits probiert. Schwarzer Bildschirm das Resultat.

In der /var/log/Xorg.0.log finden sich keinerlei Einträge auf unterstützte Einstellungen.

Grafikkarte ist eine OnBoard, NVIDIA 6150SE. Ich habe auch was von Modes und ModeLine in der xorg.conf gelesen, aber keinen rechten Plan mehr, was ich damit machen soll, da ich dort schon vieles getestet habe. Die ModelineRechner liefern auch z.T. unmögliche Ergebnisse.

Kann hier vieleicht jemand helfen?

Ich habe gerade eine neue Log-Datei erzeugt und versuche jetzt, diese mit Lynx hier hochzuladen.

Ich hoffe, dies funktioniert.

Aber keine Hinweise in dieser Datei zu finden, wie der Monitor korrekt eingestellt werden könnte.

Ich bin verzeifelt. Unter Windows gibt die Info von EIZO für fH 74.0kHz und fV 60.0Hz aus bei 1.920 x 1.200 Pixeln. DDC/CI=EIN. Ein Modeline-Rechner sollte ja auf ähnliche Werte kommen, oder?

Im Moment habe ich sowohl analog als auch DVI angeschlossen, will aber den Monitor nur über DVI betreiben.

Laut EIZO ist fV 59.0 - 61.0 Hz (digital) und fH 31.0 - 76.0 kHz (digital). Videobandbreite (digital) ist 162 MHz.

Nimm einfach die Spezifikationen deines Monitors und hack die in einen ModeLine Generator. Das hat bei mir immer funktioniert, wenn ein Monitor mal Zicken gemacht hat.
 
Und das genau funktioniert bei mir ja eben nicht.

Habe gerade erst die ModeLine ausprobiert:

Ich würde HorizSync und VertRefresh auskommentieren um Widersprüche mit den Modelines zu vermeiden.

kannst du bitte sicherstellen, dass dein Chipset vom NV-Treiber ueberhaupt unterstuetzt wird.
Mit der Beschreibung auf der AS-Rock Seite "GeForce6-class graphics DX9.0 VGA" kann ich leider nicht wirklich viel anfangen, etwas schwammig.
Moeglicherweise wird deshalb auch vom Treiber kein Chipset erkannt.

Wenn das stimmt, dann unterstützt Xorg mit dem nv-Treiber zwar den "Geforce 6100", aber nicht den "nforce4" des Mainboards.

Somit kann es eigentlich nicht funktionieren. Frag mich dann bloß, warum es mit dem alten LCD-Monitor mit 1280x1024@60Hz funktioniert hat.

Kann das jemand bestätigen?

Das könnte das alte Grafikkarten-BIOS Problem von nV-Grafikkarten sein. Da ist irgendwie ein default-Modus (iirc 1280x1024) hartkodiert und man kommt mit dem freien nv-Treiber nur mit einer GeForce ab GF8 darüber hinaus.

Ich bin da mit meiner GF6600GT und meinem 20" LCD (1600x1200) auch schon mal dran gescheitert. Irgendwann ging die Problemlösung dann dahin, das BIOS der Karte zu patchen, das habe ich dann bleiben lassen.

Kann denn der DVI-Ausgang deines Mainboards überhaupt Dual-Link DVI? Sonst ist eh bei 1600x1200 Schluss. Man kann noch rumtricksen wie die Synchronisierungszeiten verkürzen und auf 50 Hz runtergehen, aber ich glaube das reicht nicht, um Single-Link DVI auf 1920x1200 zu bekommen. Und der Monitor unterstützt ja ohnehin nur 60 Hz lt. Datenblatt.

Analog mit 1920x1200 würde ich sein lassen, dann hast du unglaublich viel Geld für Bildqualität sinnlos zum Fenster hinaus gejagt, die du gar nicht erreichst.
 
@zyon: vesa funktioniert, vorausgesetzt ich kommentiere dann die fH und die fV aus.

Dann gibt es auf einmal auch Einträge für ne Modeline in der /var/log/Xorg.0.log.

Daraus habe ich eine Modeline "1920x1200@vesa" gebaut und die tut's auch jetzt.

Allerdings, und das ist jetzt das Problem, der Monitor zeigt im Info beim D-Sub-Menü 1280x1024 an (so sieht es auch wirklich aus!), beim DVI zeigt er zwar die 1920x1024 an, es sieht jedoch auch nur nach 1280x1024 aus.

@Endorphine: klingt so, als hätten Deine Anmerkungen was mit mit meinen Problemen zu tun. Falls nur eine neue Graka eine Lösung bringt: welche wäre denn für OpenBSD empfehlenswert, wenn Bildbearbeitung (Photos etc.) Schwerpunkt sind und wenig Wert auf 3D gelegt wird (naja, vieleicht irgenwie GoogleEarth o.ä.).

Bei mir laeuft hier im Moment eine GeForce2 mit dem nv-Treiber unter OpenBSD4.3 voellig ohne Probleme.
Du solltest aber noch nachpruefen, ob die von dir gewuenschen Aufloesungen von der Hardware unterstuetzt werden.

Nennt man das auch so?

Ich versuche schon lange, komplett den Wechsel von Ixpe zu OpenBSD zu schaffen. Anfangs scheiterte es an OpenOffice, welches genau dort nicht lief, von Release zu Release wird es runder.

Mittlerweile spende ich monatlich ein wenig Geld um das Projekt zu unterstützen.

Ich würde wegen der Lebensdauer, Treiberversorgung und Bauteilequalität keine AMD/ATI-Karte kaufen, sondern eine von nVidia. Aber das ist nur meine persönliche Empfehlung, gerade in Deutschland wird aber aus politischen Gründen eher AMD empfohlen ... muss jeder selbst entscheiden.

Dank nv(4) muss man auch keine Althardware kaufen, sondern kann die aktuelle Generation, die GeForce-9 verwenden:
